This is the only campground in Okinawa with an observatory attached!

Kunigami Forest Park is a campground that is known for its darkness and tranquility.
There are almost no artificial lights, creating an environment where you can enjoy Okinawa’s starry sky to the fullest.
The Milky Way can be seen throughout the year, and you can see up to 6th magnitude stars, which is the limit of human vision.
Here you can see the starry sky that our ancestors looked up at when they thought about the night sky of Okinawa.

Yambaru Tingara Story

Tingara means “Milky Way” or “Galaxy” in Okinawan dialect.

In Okinawa, you can observe the Milky Way throughout the year, but in Yanbaru, where there are few street lights, the band of light across the night sky looks beautiful.

Enjoy the experience of being enveloped in a star-filled sky with the sounds of Yanbaru’s creatures coming from the jet-black forest as background music.
